Maria Salud Ramirez Caballero, the woman who is said to have inspired Mama Coco’s character from Disney-Pixar’s Coco is dead. died aged 109. Caballero passed away in her hometown, Santa Fe de la Laguna located within Michoacan, Western Mexico, on the 16th of October.

Disney has not officially confirmed it was true that the character Mama Coco was modelled on Caballero However, many of the fans believed that the character was actually modeled after her Mexican woman. Find out more about the beloved grandmother.

Maria Salud Ramirez Caballero Passes Away at 109

Her death has been confirmed through Roberto Monroy, the Secretary of Tourism for Michoacan. He posted on Twitter “I truly regret the loss of Dona Maria Salud Ramirez, also known as Mama Coco an unfailing woman and a shining example of living that was the source of inspiration for the beloved character that traveled all over the world. Ich pleading for her to live forever in rest and her family to be able to find tranquility.”

Caballero was a potter of ceramic who was affectionately referred to for her nickname Mama Coco in her home town. She is survived by her three grandchildren, three children and great-grandchildren. The family is believed to be planning a large-scale ceremony to pay tribute to the legacy of the elderly lady.

Disney’s Disney’s Acknowledged Mama Coco was inspired by Caballero

The Oscar-winning animated film made its debut in 2017, the public immediately noticed the similarities between the characters that portrayed Coco Mama as well as Maria Caballero. The character not only looked similar to the real grandmother, but a lot of the buildings and structures from her hometown had been reconstructed on screen.

Disney has never admitted the fact that Caballero was the inspiration behind Coco Mama, however they revealed that Coco Mama was based off real-world families that they traveled to Mexico in the Mexican state in Oaxaca as well as Guanajuato between the years of 2011 between 2011 and 2013.’

The Caballero family claims that an entire group of Pixar visited their neighborhood and even stayed with them for a while as they took photos of the elderly lady. But the director of the film, Lee Ulrich, stated that the stories were false.

“This does not appear to be a real tale. Mama Coco’s character wasn’t based on any person we actually encountered during our journeys. The character was created entirely from our imaginative imaginations,” he wrote in tweet. The woman’s family has now said they were stooping for acceptance and recognition from the film studio couple of years in the past.

Coco Fans mourn the loss of Caballero

Following the tragic news of Coco’s death came out, many followers of Coco posted their sorrow via social networks. “i am crying throughout the morning. BTS have been enlisted into the army, and will not come to the scene until 2025. I just learned that Mama Coco passed away this morning. I’m going to see coco tonight.” said one of her fans.

Another person tweeted “What is a deep sorrow over the passing of such a loving old lady. May her soul be at peace. Love and hugs to her family members in these sad moments.” A third said, “NOOOOOO there would be no holiday movie nights without her Mama Coco. Rest in peace Maria.”
